Yesterday, Cumbria Police cordoned off the property and a forensic tent was installed as an investigation got underway.

Residents who live on and nearby Pennington Drive expressed shock at the large response of emergency vehicles and said that it was a quiet suburb of Carlisle.

One resident said: "This is very upsetting and sad. It is a very quiet and beautiful area and not something you would think would happen here."
