A MOTORIST who failed to turn up for his trial at a Carlisle court has been convicted of driving while disqualified.

Christopher Horner, 33, who denied the allegation, was convicted in his absence of committing the offence at Southwaite on January 6 as he drove a Nissan Navara. He had earlier admitted driving without valid insurance.

After overseeing a trial and delivering their verdict, magistrates at Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court issued an arrest warrant for the defendant, whose address was listed at Stonegarth, Morton, Carlisle.

He will be sentenced for the two offences he is now convicted of on a date which has yet to be agreed.
