AN EDEN Valley man has pleaded not guilty to an assault which caused the alleged victim actual bodily harm.
At Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, Matthew Ellis, 55, formally denied the charge, which states that he committed the offence on August 6 last year at Kirkoswald and involved violence in a pub toilet.
The defendant, of Glebe Croft, Lazonby, was told that his case will be sent to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on May 20. Ellis was granted bail until that hearing.
