Sir Bradley Wiggins will be in Carlisle next week as he completes a huge charity challenge.

The challenge involces him riding from Portpatrick to the Isle of Wight, which will be 500 km, and will be forming part of a five-episode podcast series, riding shoulder to shoulder with five familiar faces to discuss topics ranging from fatherhood and friendship to masculinity and dedication.

This is also to raise money for a mental health initiative started by clothing company Mr Porter, called Health in Mind, which the company says is dedicated to helping men lead happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives, powered by Movember.

Starting in Portpatrick, Scotland, and finishing in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, the epic route hugs the west coast with four overnight stops, travelling through some of the most breath-taking and rugged scenery Great Britain has to offer.

The team of riders will cover 100 km and over 6,000 ft elevation on average each day, which is no mean feat even for a Tour de France Winner.

The podcast series, called 'Shoulder To Shoulder: Conversations From The Road With Sir Bradley Wiggins', is said to be a journey through conversations and stories, some powerful, but all personal.

Episodes will be recorded live while riding with a travelling epic backdrop for each of the five talent – Michelin Starred Chef Ashley Palmer-Watts, Cyclist Ben Wiggins, Mental Health Campaigner Marcus Chapman, amongst others.

Sir Bradley Wiggins said: "I know first-hand just how beneficial riding your bike in company can be, not just physically, but also mentally.

"A good friend once told me there are few things that can’t be worked out on a bike ride – and it’s so true.

"It’s great that this very special event is supported by Mr Porter Health In Mind and I’m really looking forward to riding the length of the country and sharing stories with some  fascinating characters."

The Olympian will be setting off from Scotland on Monday, April 25, arriving at Carlisle Racecourse on Tuesday, April 26, before setting off down south.
