Community recyclers have been collecting crisp packets as part of a nationwide scheme.
Alston Moor resident Julie Coonan has organised a collection of crisp packets, and other waste, to be recycled as part of the national Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme.
Organised through the community, and through the group Alston Moor Recycling, Julie stated that, as well as crisp packets, they will also be collecting coffee packets, cleaning products, some handwash pumps and refill sachets.
Collecting from the community until yesterday, (April 21), she advised recyclers to leave the requested recyclable waste at St Augustine's Church in Alston, or the Swan's Head, also in Alston.
The programme, which is organised nationally by recycling advocacy group Terracycle, will be closing on April 25 nationally, however, the group states that after this date, recyclers are to simply drop the materials off at a collection point at the nearest participating supermarket.
