Last week Cumbria Classic Car Club held their first major event of their club year.

This consisted of an evening 'Fox Hunt Run' around the Penrith area with a number of members getting involved.

Over 40 members and 20 cars followed a ‘tulip’ style navigational route from Penrith Rugby Club to the Fox Inn at Ousby.

The club thanked the rugby club for letting them use their facility and the Fox Inn provided the members with a pie and chips evening meal served with local beers.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Classic Car Club said: "The 37 mile route passed through the lanes of Brougham, Lowther and Askham, along the gated road to Whale, Bampton Grange, Rosgill, Shap and back via Crosby Ravensworth, the new ‘Irish’ ford bridge at King’s Meaburn, Morland and Culgaith.

"We hoped for evening sun didn’t materialise, but the downpours of earlier gave way to relatively dry if grey skies, though wet and muddy lanes entailed many hours of post-run classic car cleaning."

The club caters mainly to the north of the county including Penrith, Keswick and Carlisle. They welcome old car makes as well as 'modern classics.'
