AN inquest is due to be opened after a teenager died following a crash on the A595.

Ted Southward, 14, from Waberthwaite, died at the scene of a collision at Prospect Hill, Waberthwaite on April 8.

Family and friends paid tribute to Ted’s life, describing the teenager as 'one in a million'.

The family’s tribute reads: “Funny, kind, talented, fearless, legend - five words Ted's friends would use to describe him.

“Ted was one in a million, loved and respected by so many. He was at his happiest covered in grease, working on engines, racing his car or driving tractors.

“An absolute belter of a lad, who would have grown into an amazing man. Our hearts and lives are shattered, forever and ever.”
