A WEST Cumbrian charity's Easter family fun day was a big success - and raised lots of vital funds.

BEE UNIQUE, which supports families with autistic children, held the event at James Rennie School in Carlisle.

The school is for pupils aged three to 19 who have severe or profound learning disabilities and live in the North of Cumbria.

The fun day profits - £2,000 - were split between the school's Special Resource Provision and BEE UNIQUE.

BEE UNIQUE is the vision of Nadia Shaw and Dave Parsons, of Flimby - parents and carers to two non verbal boys, both diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition with Associated Learning Difficulties.

Nadia said: "The Big Easter Funday, marked the first of the BEE UNIQUE events for 2022.

"Families joined us for an amazing day at James Rennie School. We had an incredible turnout."

The event was free to enter and offered a mix of free and paid for activities throughout the day.

There were local trade and craft stalls, a craft area, inflatable park, sensory room, soft play room, funfair, bungee trampolines, Cumbria Superheroes, bubble performances, glitter tattoos, face painting, alpaca walks, an Easter Egg hunt and lots more.

"We'd like thank everyone who helped throughout the day," said Nadia.

"Without them it wouldn't have been the success it was."

Guest Joanna Loughran said: "Well done everyone.

"It was an amazing event and so well organised.

"As a parent of a child with autism and also at James Rennie School thank you so much, everything you do makes a difference to so many families."

BEE UNIQUE aims to embrace, educate and entertain those diagnosed with and those engaged in the medical diagnosis of Autism.

The charity has lots of activities planned in Workington, Maryport, Cleator Moor, Carlisle and Kendal.
