CUMBRIA Police have been out and about clamping down on speeding motorists and drivers who have been flouting road safety during Easter.
In one of the busiest tourism weekends of the year police have been issuing fines and flagging down drivers for traffic offences during the four day-festive weekend.
Today on Easter Monday the road safey van has been despatched to the A5087 between Ulverston & Barrow, the A689 Brampton through Nenthead, the A686 Alston through Penrith, the A683 between Kirkby Lonsdale & Sedbergh and the A65 between Kirkby Lonsdale & Kendal.
On Easter Sunday (April 17) the police van was on the A689 Brampton through Nenthead, the A686 Alston through Penrith, the A591 between Grasmere & Bothel and the A66 between Threlkeld & Penrith.
On Saturday the ANPR van was out on the A689 Brampton through Nenthead, the A686 Alston through Penrith and the Penrith area.
It was a very busy Good Friday for the team who were operating on the A591 between Keswick & Ings, the A66 between Keswick & Penrith, the B5300 between Maryport & Silloth and the B5302 between Wigton & Abbeytown.
The ANPR road safety team are out every day monitoring traffic throughout Cumbria's busy network but this weekend has been particularly challenging as traffic volumes are high.
