A group in Cumbria have organised a charity fundraiser gig with all the proceeds going towards helping the people of Ukraine.

The gig will be held at The Source in Denton Holme in Carlisle on April 30 and will feature a number of popular local acts.

We spoke to Poppy Rowan, the events manager, to find out more about the upcoming event.

Miss Rowan said: “We’ll be hosting a fundraiser where 100% of the proceeds will go towards the British Red Cross in aid of the Ukraine crisis. It will be a big music event with four different acts all of whom are from Cumbria. This is to show that the music scene in our area is supporting Ukraine at this hard time.

"Tickets are £10 and 100% of the door money is going towards The British Red Cross as well as money raised from a raffle we'll be hosting. We'll be putting together some prizes from businesses in Carlisle including tickets from ourselves for gigs at The Source and hopefully other venues."

So far The Source have announced that The Hardwickes will be performing which is a side project of the Carlisle band Hardwicke Circus. They will be playing an acoustic set on the night and will co headline alongside a grunge band called Glass Gardens. Bees In Blankets, an acoustic band is also set to perform. There is one more band that is yet to be confirmed for the event.

The Source has 120 to 140 capacity so if tickets sell well a lot of money will be raised to support the people of Ukraine. Tickets will be available on Skiddle, at the venue and on the door. Doors will open at 7pm and the show is expected to go on until late.

Miss Rowan added: "We've been wanting to raise money for Ukraine ever since the crisis began really. But we have wantd to get a wider range of acts involved which has taken quite a bit of time. We wanted to show that our music scene is completely in support of Ukraine and are going to do what we can to help."
