PENRITH and The Border MP Dr Neil Hudson, is to host a second Virtual Farming Roadshow.

Due to the success of the previous event, the MP is to host the event which will take place on Thursday, March 17 at 6.30pm.

In attendance will be Janet Hughes, Programme Director, Future Farming and Countryside Programme, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, (DEFRA) and Sandy Kapila, Customer Director, Rural Payments Agency (RPA).

Both DEFRA and the RPA were keen to work with Neil again to provide farmers, landowners, and other rural stakeholders in Penrith and The Border an update on the Future Farming and Countryside Programme (FFCP) as well as an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and raise concerns that they may have.

Dr Hudson said: “I am delighted to be able to host this virtual event once again. I really appreciate that both Janet and Sandy wish to continue the discussions with farmers and rural stakeholders.

“ It is such a great opportunity for important issues to be addressed by those who work within the agriculture industry. Agriculture is at the heart of Penrith and The Border, and we owe a great deal of thanks to all those working within the industry. I am looking forward to this event and to engage in positive discussions on how we can better support this industry.”

The event will commence with an opening address from Dr Hudson, followed by presentations from Janet Hughes and Alison Johnson.

This will lead into an open question and answer session.
