A SUCCESSFUL fruit and veg home delivery company has expanded into the South Lakes.

Their principle is to take the hassle out of healthy eating, delivering fresh and healthy food directly to your door.

Will Box, co-owner of Boxed Fresh alongside Johnny Honeyman, said: "We started originally at the beginning of 2020, the idea was to try and get healthy eating into workplaces, offices and trade sites.

"When Covid came along, offices closed and home delivery took off so we decided to give it a go.

"We didn't really think to target homes before with supermarket competition but we were surprised by how many people really wanted the service."

The company boasts more than a dozen options, using zero plastic in their packaging and local suppliers where possible, especially in summer.

Boxes are delivered every week and stock is rotated every two weeks to ensure new options.

Boxed Fresh, which previously operated in the north and west of the county, will be expanding between Kendal and Grasmere, covering Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness.

The company will be running out of their already operational Kendal warehouse, where their 'sister' company Inter Fresh already serves businesses.

Inter Fresh began five years ago and slowly expanded south until demand in Windermere and Bowness tempted them out of Carlisle and into a Shap Road warehouse.

It serves cafes, restaurants and events with fresh, regularly delivered food.

All deliveries are operated in-house by the company's 12 vans which run deliveries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

However, they are keeping their short-term aspirations limited.

Mr Box said: "We want to keep everything as in-house as possible, so we're not looking to expand for the next 12 to 18 months.

"We want to make sure top service is the most important thing we do."
