Cumbria’s Gelt Gladiator has recently been nominated in the "Best Small Event 2021" category at this year’s UK Obstacle Racing Awards.

Billed as the county’s largest mass participation event, Gelt Gladiator is set to celebrate its seventh anniversary in 2022.

Offering four events aimed for all abilities over two days, it has had over 15,000 people attend since its first event.

Discussing the nomination, event owner Mike James said: “We are thrilled that GG has been recognised and nominated for the "Best Small Event 2021" at the UK Obstacle Racing Awards.

“It is great to be recognised as one of the best small community events in the country.

“If we were to win, it would help push Gelt Gladiator to the next level so please get voting!”

After the pandemic forced the group to cancel the 2020 event, organisers welcomed nearly 3,000 attendees to the course last year.

After the event, Mike said: “We want to make next year even bigger and could even extend the course for more people if we need it. We love how the course makes people feel so upbeat after they complete it. We focus on people having fun rather than making the course difficult and want to welcome people of all abilities to take part.”

Organisers have announced that this year’s event will take place on June 11 & 12, with there being a price rise on tickets from January 31.
