A BOATING organisation is to move its base of operations.

The South Windermere Sailing Club is now operating from YMCA Lakeside – North Camp, having moved from Fell Foot Park at the end of 2021.

Commodore Angela O'Donnell said: "We are delighted with the opportunities our new location gives us.

“In addition to a much better sailing area, we look forward to partnering with YMCA as an Royal Yachting Association Training Centre to provide a friendly and comprehensive sailing offer for people of all ages."

The South Windermere Sailing Club celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021.

The formal sailing programme for the club runs mid-March through October, with a Frostbite Series run through early December.

The family friendly club offers 'Messing About in Boats' on Saturday mornings, perfect for building skills and confidence with safety boat cover and informal coaching if requested.

Friendly racing takes place Saturday afternoon, with competitive racing in a variety of formats on Sundays. Junior training on selected Saturdays, Ladies that Launch and social sailing events are also on the programme.

The sailing activities are complemented by a number of social events throughout the year. An open day will be held February 19 from 10.00am to 2.00pm for people interested in joining to visit the site and talk to club members.

YMCA Lakeside is one of the largest outdoor activity centres in Europe, offering nearly 50 land and water-based activities for young people and families.
