Here at the Westmorland Gazette we have gathered some of the best events coming up to enjoy in the days ahead.

1. Sticklebarn Dinner and Film Evening

On January 22, 2021 at 2pm you can join the team at the National Trust for a fun family event filled with films and hot chocolate to warn yourself up after a adventure in the Langdales. The afternoon will be hosted by a National Trust team member who will guide you through the film collection making sure everyone has a warm drink and maybe even a piece of cake.

2. Bendrigg Trust Climbing Festival

Are you interested in the outdoors? On January 21s till January 22nd 2022, the bendrigg trust will be hosting their annual climbing festival. The event will be taking place at The Lakeland Climbing Centre, Unit 27 Lake District Business Park. The festival will have a jam packed itinerary of workshops and training sessions at their specialist outdoor centre.

3. Zoe Guigueno

On January 21, 2022 head down to Bardsea Malt Kiln Village Hall to see Zoe Guigueno. Zoe is a songwriter and bassists based in New York City She has played and continues to play with the bands Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards, Michael Winograd and the Honorable Mentshn, Della Mae, Joy Kills Sorrow, and Fish & Bird. Ticket are currently on sale for £13.52.

4. Burns Night Celebration Dinner

Starting at 7pm you can celebrate Burns Night in style at The Villa Levens. For £40 you will be treated to a four coursed dinner and for £165 you can stopover with a full Cumbrian breakfast the following morning

5. Street Market

Looking for a bargain? Why not head down to Ulverston street market? taking place on Thursday 20 and Saturday 22 you can grab yourself some bargains and support local businesses.

6. Thieving Magpies

On Friday 21, head down to Ruskins Bar, Kendal at 8:30pm to see a performance from the thieving magpies, the group will be putting their own spin on classic rock, rhythm and blues. Tickets are still available for £5.

7. Lakeland Sinfonia

A concert of live classical music will be hosted by Westmorland Hall, starting at 7:30pm. Ticket prices vary between £5 - £28. The Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Society was a development from the Kendal Chamber Orchestra, and has provided over 50 years of fine, live, classical orchestral music in Kendal.

8. Fern Brady: Autistic Bikini Queen

Following a sold out tour across Europe and Australia in 2019 and her most recent BBC stand up special Power & Chaos, Fern Brady brings her fifth solo show Brain on a nationwide tour. Fern will be at Brewery Arts, Kendal on Thursday 27 for a two hour show. Tickets are currently on sale for £17.60.

9. An evening with Caroline Bird

On Wednesday 26 between 7:30pm and 9pm the online poetry readings 'Go to the poets, they will speak to thee' returns. The first poem will be read by guest poet Caroline Bird. She is the author of six collections from Carcanet including the Forward Prize winning The Air Year, published in 2020.

10. Coles Dragtastic fundraiser

On January 21 at 7pm head down to Boaters Bar and raise money to support Cole Murray. There will also be a full cabaret and comedy show featuring drag queens Diana D, Gypsy Devine and Kara Von Site who will be hosting the night. Tickets are still on sale for £16.76.
