THE A66 near Penrith has re-opened after being blocked by a multi vehicle collision.

Natinal Highways said: "The A66 in Cumbria is now open in both directions between the A6 at Penrith and the B6542 TempleSowerby following the earlier collision.

"No substantial delays remain in the area."

The motorway was closed this morning eastbound between the A6 in Penrith and the B6542 at Temple Sowerby due to collision.

Highways England said: "The closure is in place to recover the vehicles involved and to clear debris and spillages from the carriageway.

"Cumbria Police are on scene and lead the response to this incident."
