A GOLF magazine with the highest circulation in the UK has named Silloth on Solway the 23rd best course in the country.

National Club Golfer distribute magazines to every golf course in the United Kingdom and send newsletters to 50,000 keen golfers daily, covering all aspects of the sport from professional tournaments to grassroots programmes.

Stating that readers will not regret a journey to the Lakes after catching their first glimpses of the first and eighteenth holes, the company praise the course on its tough, yet manageable links with a firm, springy turf.

At £52 a game, NCG also appreciated that it would be difficult to enjoy a round for as good a price anywhere else in the UK.

The company say: “Silloth is one of the delightful and rare band of clubs where the locals seem not to realise just what a wonderful course it is their privilege to tackle on a weekly or even daily basis.”

Club Secretary of the golf club, Alan Oliver, shared his delight over the recognition.

He said: “To be recognised by a leading golf magazine as the 23rd best course in England is a fantastic accolade and one that the club is very proud of.

"Accolades like this help to raise the profile of the club and confirm its position as being one of the top golf courses in England.

"Any golfer who visits Silloth enjoys the stunning layout and the superb condition of the golf course and hopefully more golfers will make the trip to Cumbria to experience this.”
