A NEW family has taken over a long-standing pharmacy.

The Brampton Pharmacy in Market Place, which has been run by the same Jobson family for 60 years, has now had a change of ownership.

However, patrons will be pleased that another loving family has taken it over and kept that spirit alive.

Swee Wong and her husband Charles Hii took over the pharmacy as co-owners in early January, and all jobs that were there beforehand will stay in place.

Swee trained professionally as a pharmacist and has a background in running them.

Two other pharmacies are currently under the ownership of Swee and Charles.

These are the Green Tree Pharmacy in Kirkby Stephen, and the Village Pharmacy in Catterick.

Swee explained: "We are a small independent pharmacy business that started in Kirkby Stephen in 2017.

"It is pretty much a family business, where my husband, Charles Hii is the co-owner.

"We have two young children, Christian, who is seven years old, and Charlene, who is four years old.

"We have just taken over Brampton Pharmacy on January 5, 2022, and are looking forward to serving the local community with more and better services.

"The plan for the pharmacy is to continue to serve the local community of Brampton, offering stop smoking cessation, emergency hormonal cessation, flu vaccination, methadone supervision, HIV and Hep C service, travel vaccination, and we actually had just put in an application to be Covid vaccination site."

They are still waiting on approval to be a Covid vaccination site; their other pharmacies in the county currently operate as such, something that she says will hopefully come to the Brampton pharmacy.

Swee said on the subject on potential changes that the pharmacy will undergo, or what customers should expect: "No major changes at the moment but we are looking into revamping the shop floor sometime next year."

In the meantime, Swee reassures people that the change of ownership will not mean any delay in prescription services.
