Businesses in West Cumbria are being offered support to help them as the Omicron variant continues to cause further difficulties.

It was announced back in December 2021 that companies in the hospitality sector will be eligible for grants to give them much needed support.

Copeland Borough Council have said that they are creating an application process to allow people to apply for these grants.

Mayor of Copeland Mike Starkie said: "Businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors will be eligible for one-off grants of up to £6,000 per premises.

"Further information and applications will be available as soon as the relevant guidance and funds have been received from Government.

"We have the guidance for the Omicron, Hospitality and Leisure Grant scheme and we are currently working on an online application form."

The government made the announcement on the 21st December to ensure that the hospitality sector in particular is well protected after being badly hit over the course of the pandemic.

Local authorities, including Copeland, are working to make the grants accessible to the necessary people.
