A PENRITH man has been found not guilty of five counts of rape following a two-week trial at Carlisle Crown Court.
Michael Slater, 39, of Station Road, Penrith, was also cleared of a stalking allegation against the same woman.
He was told that a sixth allegation of rape which the jury failed to reach a verdict on would not be proceeded with by the prosecution.
Three of the rape charges related to alleged events in July last year whle they others related to April and August. Even in cases where there is no conviction, the identity of all alleged victims of sexual offences is protected by law.
