IT isn't everyday that you find yourself lending a helping hand to Hollywood stars and the crew behind a hit Netflix series on a freezing river.

Luckily enough for the Keswick Adventures team, that is just how they ended up spending some of their time this year as part of the second series of The Witcher was being filmed across the North of England.

The skills of the Keswick-based outdoor adventure company were put to the test for a section of the series that was being filmed at High Force Waterfall on the River Tees.

Owner of Keswick Adventures, Lee Simpson, and his team were responsible for setting up the rigging and making sure stunts were carried out safely on set.

"It was awesome to be involved even in a small part of such a big and exciting project,” said Lee.

"As outdoor activity providers, we usually take people out for leisure adventures, but our outdoor skills and knowledge of the area are invaluable on a show like this.

"We’re receiving more and more requests to support this kind of work."

When asked if there were any particularly memorable moments on set, Lee recalled the moment his girlfriend first met actor Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, on set.

Lee said: "She nearly collapsed in a heap.

"She does the [work] behind the scenes for me when I'm on set and after we had been doing some stunts with [Henry], he came over to say thank you to everyone at the end and I thought she was going to pass out."

Lee and his team have also helped on the set of Sam Mendes's BAFTA-winning film, 1917.

He said that the team behind the film were doing location scouting when they came across some friends of Lee's who were doing some white water kayaking.

They passed on Lee's details, offering the adventure company owner the once in a life time opportunity.

A stint in film production has given Lee the push to develop Keswick Adventure's sister company, UNIT 7 Safety, which is already set to help upcoming productions with on set safety.

Season two of The Witcher was officially released on Friday December 17 and is available now on Netflix.
