A LICENSING applications requesting permission for the sale of alcohol has been submitted to the borough council for approval.
Workington Veterans Club Limited has applied to Allerdale Borough Council for a Premises Licence for Workington Veterans Club on Christian Street.
If approved by the council, the license permits Workington Veterans Club to sell alcohol from Monday to Sunday, 11:00am until 11pm.
The application also asks that alcohol can be sold between 11am and 1pm on New Years Eve.
The applicant said that the premises will be closed to the public 30 mins after alcohol hours.
Workington Veterans Club was founded on August 14 1920 and celebrated its 101st birthday this year.
A plaque was unveiled in August by the club committee to commemorate the occasion.
The club welcomes men, women, ex-servicemen and members of the public alike.
And the club is hailed as a place for veterans to be around like-minded people and people who have lived through similar experiences.
A Local Authority’s licensing committee has the power to grant or remove permits to businesses for the sale of alcohol and operation of vehicles.
Allerdale Borough Council’s licensing panel will meet next on Friday January 14 at Allerdale House.
The meeting is open to the public and begins at 3.30pm.
