A man has been charged with six counts of criminal damage after multiple businesses in Workington town centre were vandalised over the weekend.
Shop windows were damaged at businesses including Iceland, Home Bargains, Dominoes, Angel Nails, Atkins and Max Photos overnight on Friday 3rd December into Sat 4th December.
Officers attended and in the early hours of Saturday morning, arrested Robert Hawkins, 27, of Sand Lane, Flimby, on suspicion of criminal damage.
Hawkins has been charged with six counts of criminal damage.
He was bailed to attend Workington Magistrates’ Court on 20th December, 2021.
Sergeant Scott Adams said: "Whilst the damage caused was a significant blow to the town’s business community, I hope the swift actions of our officers in responding and quickly arresting a suspect go some way to highlighting how seriously such offences are taken."
