A TWENTY-eight-year-old Carlisle man has been given a curfew after he admitted assaulting a police officer.

Luke Jackson, of Hope Street, committed the offence on August 29 in Carlisle.

After hearing the details at the city's Rickergate court, magistrates gave the defendant a community order. It includes a four-week curfew, to run from 7pm to 7am each day.

The defendant must also pay the officer he assaulted compensation of £50.

In addition, said magistrates, he must pay costs of £85 and a £95 victim surcharge. Jackson's guilty plea was taken into account.
