A lorry driver was taken to hospital after crashing on a busy motorway.
Police were called to reports of a crash involving a lorry on the M6 Southbound between Junction 44 (Carlisle North) and Junction 43 (Carlisle) at about 2.15pm today.
Multiple emergency services were involved, including Cumbria Fire and Rescue and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).
A crew from Carlisle West Fire Station was called out at 2.31pm, and they were closely followed by crews from Carlisle East and Longtown fire stations.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue said the lorry had "come off the carriageway and down an embankment.
"[The lorry] came to a rest on it's wheels. It was not on its side."
On the driver, the spokesperson added: "One male driver was taken to hospital. He was able to make his own way out [of the vehicle] with help from the crew."
One lane was blocked at the time, but the scene has now been cleared.
Police have been contacted for further information.
