A KIND-HEARTED boy has given up his pocket money to help save other people’s lives.

Last weekend there was a life-threatening accident where the air ambulance attended.

The air ambulance landed in a field close to the family’s home so they went to have a look at the helicopter.

But, after a little conversation, George Rigg was fascinated and wanted to help the crew.

George and his brother Jack, from Moor Row near Whitehaven, took the cash out of their pockets and gave it to the crew to help fund the charity.

George’s mum Vicky Cooper explained to both George Rigg and his brother Jack Rigg about charity and how the air ambulance is funded by raising money.

George had some money in his pocket and he said he wanted to give his ‘cash’ to the air ambulance to help them save some more people. The pilot was taken aback by his kind gesture and showed them around the helicopter.

Both George and Jack are currently thinking of some fund raising ideas

His teacher, Miss Kendall said: “George has a kind and caring personality and loves to is always willing to help his friends and adults in school.

“I am very proud of George and his brother Jack for wanting to help people in our county.”

A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said: “Usually when you’re handed pocket money you can’t wait to spend it on toys and sweets, but four-year-old George Rigg decided to donate his to GNAAS.

“Our critical care team were responding to an incident in Moor Row, near Whitehaven, and while manning the aircraft, our pilot Phil met Jack and George Rigg and their family.”

Phil said: “George gave me his pocket money to give to the charity. What a star.

“Thank you so much George, your selfless act of kindness has not gone unnoticed.”
