FIREFIGHTERS have been called to action after a huge blaze engulfed a barn.
Crews from four on-call stations managed to rescue about 100 sheep.
A spokesman for the service said: "Busy night for on-call crews from Penrith, Appleby, Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen.
"Large barn fire involving livestock and winter hay.
"100 sheep safely removed prior to extinguishing the fire.
"Fire damage limited to one section. Great firefighting effort to save the building."
