Carlisle United's game with Walsall today is ON - but some other football games involving Cumbrian teams have fallen victim to Storm Arwen.

The Blues this morning announced that the strong winds battering the county had not put this afternoon's League Two fixture at Brunton Park in any peril.

The action kicks off at 3pm as Keith Millen's team look for a first win in 13 league games.

Elsewhere in Cumbria, Workington Reds have not reported any problems in the build-up to their Northern Premier League North West clash with Prescot Cables at Borough Park.

In Northern League Division One, though, Penrith's trip to North Shields is off.

The home side have suffered storm damage in and around their ground.

Carlisle City's Northern League Division Two home game against Bedlington Terriers at Gillford Park is on, kick-off 3pm.

Further down the non-league pyramid, the Westmorland Football League has cancelled all its fixtures today on safety grounds.

They said they made the decision "after discussing with multiple parties and taking advice."

In Carlisle United's division, meanwhile, Tranmere's League Two game against Stevenage has been called off.

The Wirral club said a small section of the main stand roof has been blown off and a "significant amount of roof signage and guttering" has been blown down.

The safety advisory group has advised it is not safe to stage the game until the roof has been properly inspected.
