A MAN from is Cleator Moor has been fined £3000 for driving without insurance and a valid MOT, a court heard.

Alan Stanaway, of Ennerdale Road, was found guilty following a trial of driving a car without an insurance policy and no test certificate that had been issued within the appropriate period, North and West Cumbria Magistrates' Court was told.

The 33-year-old was found guilty on November 4 but was not disqualified from driving during the sentencing due to the impact it would have on his job, employees, or on paying for health issues, wife, children and household finances.

His driving licence was endorsed with eight points and he had to pay court costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £190 in addition to the £3000 fine.
