A girl from Carlisle has received the ‘Rising Star’ award at this year’s Cumbria Sports Awards.

Emily Trotter was named the recipient of the award this week. She has competed at two elite level competitions, taking a bronze medal at the virtual Dutch Open event, and winning gold at the V-Tramp International event, cementing her place in the GB national squad.

Discussing Emily’s win, Carlisle Trampoline Club’s Kim Trotter said: “We are very proud of Emily and the achievement of being awarded the Cumbria rising star award. She has worked extremely hard and is a dedicated member of the club.”

Mrs Trotter continued by discussing Emily’s year. She said: “Since returning to training after the pandemic Emily has worked hard to regain her skills, fitness, endurance and confidence in training. She has also competed in two face-to-face national events where she has landed in her finals and performing beautiful and confident routines.”

Kim finished by discussing the expectations for Emily in 2022. She continued: “In the next year, we are hopeful that Emily will retain her position on a national Pathway squad and compete at national and international events. With the goal to be achieving finals as well as podium positions.”
