THE weekend is coming up fast!
Here are some ideas of things to do in and around Carlisle:
1) Alston Moor Winter Craft Fair, Alston Town Hall, Friday 19 -Sunday 21
The annual craft fair is introducing some new makers this year. It promises to be a great opportunity to buy local, handmade gifts with a difference.
2) Carlisle City v Abbey Hey, Gillford Park Stadium, Saturday 20
The Sky Blues welcome Manchester club Abbey Hey to the city this weekend in the FA Vase Second Round.
3) Paddington: The Story of a Bear, Tullie House, from Saturday 20
Based at the museum for three months, visitors will follow Paddington’s journey from the mind behind the bear, Michael Bond.
4) Artwork sale, The Lanes Shopping Centre, Saturday 20
The paintings, depicting scenes of the Lake District and North Pennine Landscapes will be sold to raise funds for SEDCU.
5) Whitney Queen of the Night, The Sands Centre, Saturday 20
Elesha Paul Moses plays the music legend, supported by a live band to provide a celebration of the music and life of one of the greatest singers of all time.
6) Hue and Cry, The Old Fire Station, Saturday 20
The brothers will be performing an intimate show filled with songs recorded throughout their five-decade long career.
7) Ghostbusters Afterlife: Vue Botchergate, from Friday
The new release sees a single mother and her two children move to a new town..... where they soon discover they have a connection to the original Ghostbusters.
8) Maiden Scotland, The Brickyard, Saturday 20
Formed in 2003. The band blast out full-blooded performances of classic Iron Maiden tunes covering all albums and eras.
9) Gillian Naylor, The Old Fire Station, Saturday 20 – Sunday 21
In this free exhibition, Gillian creates mixed media paintings that tell stories; the main narrative running through the work is the human journey through life and how we relate to each other and the world around us.
10) LA Peach, The Source, Saturday 20
Bringing their ‘infamous’ live show to the city, the act combines character-led storytelling with a penchant for 70s pop & 80s new wave. They will be supported by Carlisle acts Delagrave, Jiggy Beast and Cat of Tomorrow.
