A series of artwork will be on offer in Carlisle this Saturday, with proceeds going to charity.

The Lanes Shopping Centre will host a sale of original watercolour paintings, depicting scenes of the Lake District and North Pennine Landscapes painted by David Almond, an esteemed geologist and artist from the area.

The paintings are part of a collection bequeathed to charity SEDCU by Almond’s family for the purpose of raising funds.

Supporting the education of disadvantaged children in Uganda (SEDCU) is a small charity based in Hexham which aims to provide an education for severely disadvantaged children living in the remote southwest corner of Uganda. Many are orphans, disabled, abandoned, homeless or living in desperate poverty.

Positioned at the Centre’s Tower Square, the sale will provide an opportunity to raise life changing funds for SEDCU. There are many paintings in the collection, ranging in price from £20 to £100 depending on size and finish, some paintings are already mounted and framed.

Mark Nott, The Lanes’ manager said: “We’re delighted to be able to support this incredibly worthy charity in this very special art sale.

These original pieces would make superb Christmas gifts whilst raising vital funds for children living in Uganda.”
