Last week business owners in the Lake District were invited into a hotel to sample a selection of tapas dishes they have on offer.

Skiddaw Hotel asked business owners in Keswick to come and sample the vibrant Spanish dishes at their newly refurbished venue.

The aim was to spread cheer amongst the entrepreneurs after a busy summer period and was done with the help of Keswick Tourism Association.

Vanessa Metcalfe, Tourism Manager for Keswick Tourism Association said: "The overwhelming feedback on the food was that it was fantastic and everyone who attended will be spreading the word, not just to their guests, but to friends and family as well.

There were twelve authentic Spanish dishes on offer which were prepared by Head Chef, Bobby Fillingham, who served as a chef for 18 years in the Balearic Islands.

Some of the dishes included 'patatas bravas' which are roasted potatoes in a rich tomatoe sauce and 'chorizo a la cidre' which is chorizo sausage in cider.

The dishes were very well received by the guests and complimentary sangria was on offer with flamenco music setting the tone.

Bobby was happy to answer any questions that the visitors may have had about the food that was on offer.

Mr Fillingham said: ""It was great to see all the local business community letting their hair down and relaxing after a gruelling summer by enjoying a couple of glasses of sangria and sampling our food. The feedback was amazing, so thank you to everyone involved."

The Skiddaw Hotel is currently hosting an exclusive ‘Tapas Week’ where guests can enjoy limited edition discounts on tapas bundles and half priced sangria every day until Monday 22nd November. Authentic Spanish tapas is served in the Skiddaw Hotel’s bar and conservatory from 12pm – 9pm.
