ONE of Carlisle's most prominent factories has submitted a planning applications for a huge development.
Food firm Cavaghan & Gray is seeking changes to its site at Brunel Way on the city's Durranhill Industrial Estate.
Its application is for an extension to a food production facility at its Meal Solutions Riverbank site. This could see massive changes which would include additional production areas, offices, distribution, HGV yard and a multi-storey car park.
Only one document – a site notice – has been provided for the application so far. The notice said: "Carlisle City Council gives notice that an application for full planning permission, as described above, has been received."
The notice also says that representations on the proposal should be made to the council, quoting application number 21/1005, and sent to the council's corporate director of economic development by November 17.
The application was received by the council on Friday, according to the planning section of the authority's website.
The applicant is listed as James Noble and the agent is HPA Chartered Architects.
While the proposal has not yet been approved, one city councillor thinks it could be good for the city.
Cllr Robert Betton said: "It's a good thing for jobs, if all concerns are met it could be good. Everything is moving with the times."
