A FORMER Methodist Chapel located in Cumwhinton is set to be renovated into accommodation.

The chapel building, located on the B6263 road, dates back to 1904 and an application has been made to convert it to a dwelling with two main bedrooms in the rear section (one with en-suite) and a further bedroom/office near the centre.

A report by a council officer indicates that the application represented a 'well thought-out and designed proposal' that would re-use an existing building of local architectural and historic interest for an acceptable purpose.

They felt that if the building is changed to a private residence, it will become compatible with all the other frontage uses in the street. The scheme has been designed to preserve the amenity and privacy of future occupiers within the development and adjacent to it.

The application will be discussed at a meeting on Friday.
