FOUR people have been taken to hospital and multiple others were injured after a vehicle collision on the A69.

The incident took place late Saturday afternoon on the A69 between the B6322 and B6318, the road was closed in both directions.

Two ambulances crews, the community paramedic and an officer were dispatched to the scene to treat eight patients, all with minor injuries.

Two people were taken to Northumbria Hospital in Cramlington, one with a back injury and the other with a wrist injury.

Two other patients were taken to Newcastle RVI, one to be treated for a back injury and the other for a head injury.
