Thousands of pounds have been raised as a Cumbrian police officer broke a world record.

Raising more than £2,000 for Eden Valley Hospice, PC Chris Huggett completed the Manchester Marathon in full uniform.

PC Huggett is a full-time serving response officer, but he has just completed the Manchester Marathon in world record breaking time. He completed the challenge for a fantastic cause, raising money for Eden Valley Hospice.

His Just Giving page has now reached more than £2,000 in donations.

He completed the 26.2 miles in 3:06:27.

He has registered the record with Guinness and is now just waiting for confirmation to be the Guinness World Record holder for the fastest marathon in full police uniform.

Hearing about the news, Superintendent Matt Pearman said: “The Constabulary are proud to have been represented in the Manchester Marathon by Chris, and what outstanding results he achieved.

“Our front-line officers have to maintain a high level of fitness, but Chris has really taken this to the next levels.

“Eden Valley Hospice is an incredible place and their children’s hospice, Jigsaw, is the Constabulary’s chosen charity. All of the people there do amazing work, and the service users are absolutely inspiring.

“Chris is a dedicated, caring and driven constable, this won’t be the last of his endeavours, so we look forward to seeing what challenge he sets himself next!”
