A NEW care home in Carlisle is set to create nearly 100 jobs.

Eden Manor care home is expected to open in Morton next spring.

Construction of the Langrigg Road site will cost £7million.

The care home will create around 90 jobs for the local area and will have 80 en suite rooms.

Construction has been carried out by Angela Swift developments (ASD).

It will be operated by Silk Healthcare, which is part of the ASD group of companies.

Angela Swift, managing director of ASD Group said: “We are very pleased that construction of Eden Manor is going so well, and we are really looking forward to being part of the community with Silk Healthcare providing residential, dementia, respite and end of life care.

“Our experienced manager and deputy manager for Eden Manor, Donna Laird and Hannah Riley, are based in Carlisle preparing to recruit the staff team.

“We are delighted with the applications we have already had from people looking to work in the home and also the number of enquiries we have had from people about becoming residents.”

Facilities for residents will include a hairdressing salon, treatment room and a library.

There will also be a coffee shop, wi-fi, activity rooms, and balconies overlooking adjacent parkland and landscaped gardens.

These facilities will be spread over three stories.

ASD say that the bespoke designs for their care homes create beautiful and welcoming places to live and work.

They also say that they take into account the need for infection control measures to help protect residents and staff.

The company specialises in the development and delivery of care homes.

On Facebook, Eden Manor Deputy Manager Hannah Riley said that there was an opportunity for people to learn more about the new care home next month.

"Eden Manor Care Home is holding a Meet and Greet session on Tuesday, November 9 at St Luke’s Church, Morton, Carlisle," she wrote.

"The purpose of the session is to answer any questions, queries and enquiries and there is an opportunity for recruitment and collecting application forms.

"The sessions are between 12.00pm-1.30pm and 2.30pm-4pm, feel free to come along and have a chat!"
