The NHS in Cumbria are launching a free virtual work experience programme for students.

Work experience has been paused due to the pandemic but the Trust is now able to offer this unique experience to the next generation of professionals.

Suzan Hunter, Workforce Development and Engagement Co-ordinator: "Being able to offer work experience to those with an interest in a health career is vital in developing the future workforce and helping young people experience the environment first hand.

"We have a nursing and midwifery programme and an allied health professional programme.

"They are both online, delivered virtually and youngsters can discover different career pathways within these professions before delving into each speciality in more detail.

"They will also learn more about how exactly to prepare for a career in an NHS - with a focus on the key skill of communication."

The live workshops will have professionals on hand to answer any questions as well as activities and assignments.

Anyone who completes the course will be presented with a certificate.

The programmes are aimed at students in Cumbria aged between 14 and 18 and they will take place from October 25th during half term.

Due to limited places applications will close on October 19th.

The two courses included are Allied Health Professionals and Nursing and Midwifery.
