We have been looking back through the archives for Frizington Primary School, near Whitehaven.
The school celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2003 and our photo shows a mural created by the children to mark that anniversary. Artists Josie Tweedle and Marilyn Ross helped in the creation of the art work which was funded by the CDC.
Originally there was only one school in the village, St Joseph’s RC School, which took children of all denominations. But, as the village expanded with the arrival of iron ore miners and their families, more education provision followed.
Our photos include pupils enjoying a maths week back in 1984 and the winners of the school’s anti-vandalism poster competition in 2007. Did you go to Frizington Primary School? Let us have your memories.
