ASPATRIA Farmers have announced the appointment of Philip Sharman as their new CEO.

Philip will take up his position in November and Tim Wilson, who is retiring from the role, will work with him for a short period to ensure a smooth handover.

Philip was born and raised in the North East of England and has spent his working career involved in agriculture across the north of England.

William Graham, the Chairman of Aspatria Farmers, said: “Philip’s enthusiasm and commitment impressed us from the start, making him a unanimous choice. We are sure that he will bring a lot to our business and will continue to build on the excellent foundations established by Tim and his team.”

Aspatria Farmers is one of the oldest farmer-owned co-operatives in the UK established in 1870 and serving farmers across North Cumbria, South West Scotland and the North East by sourcing their farming supplies from the best suppliers at the best prices possible. The business also has a dairy and general agricultural engineering division that services the member base across the region. Aspatria Farmers employs a total of 55 people.

Aspatria Farmers has a turnover of £24m, has 985 members and trades with over 1,500 farm account customers each month. It has Country Stores at Aspatria, Penrith and Longtown and feed/ fertiliser stores at Aspatria and Penrith
