A COMMUNITY is coming together to entertain the children after a landslide left them with no school.
Families were evacuated in the village of Parton because of a landslide and placed in temporary accommodation until a long-term solution could be found.
Regarding St Bridget's Primary School, the council do not currently have enough information to know what the situation means for the school, either immediately or in the longer term.
But to cheer the community up the chairman and the vice chairman of the PTA for the school are puttin gon a scarecrow trail.
Claire Cope the chairman said: "We have arranged for the village to hold their first ever scarecrow trail. 24 scarecrows will be displayed around the village during the Halloween weekend.
"Some of the scarecrow themes are Strictly fang tastic, Cruella De Cruel and Scary fairy with many more.
"Children will be the judges and families will be able to walk the trail with a map designed by Abi Marsden and scoring the scarecrows out of five.
"The winner will receive a trophy and bragging rights to Partons best scarecrow.
" Since children are still not back at their own school, it will be a fun event to help lift everyone's spirit."
