A new operation launched by Cumbria County Council will help avoid cold callers.
The Council are working in partnership with Cumbria Police to develop Operation Rogue Trader.
It aims to tackle rogue practices and raise awareness of the dangers linked to engaging with cold-callers who knock on doors.
Councillor Celia Tibble, Cumbria County Council's Cabinet Member for Trading Standards, said: "It’s crucial to raise awareness of doorstep crime and help prevent innocent people from falling victim to these criminals.
"This day of action provides a platform to educate traders and deter doorstep crime in our communities.
"Rogue traders, doorstep fraudsters and scammers prey on the most vulnerable in society.
"Working closely with the police and other agencies means we can intervene sooner and safeguard potential victims."
Officers have been on patrol in around Cumbria where rogue traders have targeted residents and businesses.
Businesses have been approached to ensure that their selling practices are in compliance with Trading Standards.
Cumbrian Trading Standards have also reinforced a previous message of being extremely cautious when dealing with cold callers.
Many will offer house repairs and garden work which may become more common now that restrictions ease.
