VEHICLE owners are being warned to be mindful of security after a spate of van thefts in north Cumbria.

In the latest incidents, thieves struck in Penrith, stealing Ford Transit vans from two locations in the area overnight on September 14 to 15. A white Ford Transit van was stolen from Milton Street and a silver Ford Transit was taken from Wetheriggs Rise.

A Cumbria Police spokesman said that the public should check the security of their vehicles, and where possible remove tools and any other valuables from them overnight.

You should report any suspicious behaviour.
