LEWIS WING has left Middlesbrough to join League One side Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

Wing, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Rotherham United, has signed a season-long deal at Hillsborough.

The 26-year-old joined Boro from Shildon Town in the summer of 2017, and has scored 14 goals in almost 100 games since making his debut against Scunthorpe United in the EFL Cup.

He was part of the Boro squad that recently spent a week in the South-West as part of their pre-season preparations, scoring during the three-game tour, but Neil Warnock has clearly decided he is surplus to requirements ahead of the start of the new season.

Boro play their penultimate pre-season friendly at York City's LNER Stadium later this evening.
