A BARN FIRE was tackled by Carlisle firefighters on Sunday night.
Crews from Carlisle East are currently tackling a large fire on a farm near Waverton.
Eight fire engines from across North Cumbria were mobilised at around to 1 on Sunday night to attend an incident off the A596 near Wigton.
The fire involved an agricultural building on a farm.
Cumbrian Firefighters used two hose reels and two ground monitors to tackle the blaze.
And fire crews were still in attendance to ensure the area was safe on today.
The fire involved hay, and various farm equipment, and the construction was believed to be made of asbestos.
At the time of the blaze, a spokesperson for the station appealed to residents that live nearby to keep their windows closed.

It was confirmed on Monday that three officers were taken to hospital after the blaze for check ups. They had been exposed to chemicals involved in the fire.
During the incident, a spokesperson for Carlisle East Fire Station asked the public living in the vicinity to keep doors and windows closed.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Services officer Mark Nicholson spoke at the scene: “They’ve been checked out and they’ve all been discharged.
“It was well out of control we had eight engines here through the night. I took over at 10am it was scaled down to a three, I’ve got it down to a one now.” The fire was still smoldering yesterday evening.
