A property in Harrington has been devastated by a fire which is believed to be intentional.
Cumbria Police have arrested a 40 year-old on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a building fire in Harrington on Sunday afternoon.
Four fire engines were deployed to a building fire on Church Road in Harrington at around 4pm on Sunday.
Fire crews extinguished a blaze involving the roof space and first floor of a domestic property and one casualty was rescued.
Cumbria Police have now confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
They said: "Police were called at around 3:55pm yesterday (July 25) to the report of a fire at a property on Church Road, Harrington."
"A 40-year-old man from Harrington was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
"Officers are working with Cumbria Fire and Rescue."
A Harrington pensioner praised neighbours and emergency services after the fire in the property near her home. She was visiting a friend and returned to find the scene of 'devastation'.
