A MAN has been fined after resisting the efforts of a police officer.
Phillip James Stott, 41, of Greystoke Park Road, Penrith, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 19.
He faced one charge of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm, or distress, and one charge of resisting a police constable in the execution of their duty.
Both charges related to an incident on May 20 in Penrith.
Stott pleaded guilty to both charges. His guilty plea was taken into account by magistrates when imposing the sentence.
For the harassment charge, he was fined £100.
For resisting the PC, he was fined a further £180 for a total of £280, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
