A NEW subscription service is being launched that will see some of Cumbria’s most-iconic products delivered to doorsteps far outside of the county.

Cumbria Boxed is a monthly subscription service which will deliver Cumbria’s best local products across the United Kingdom.

Customers will be able to discover and try a range of products, and each month there will be a different theme.

One of the company's key goals is to engage those outside of the county with Cumbria’s local businesses, and promote outstanding local producers.

Interest is already being shown with people who are originally from Cumbria but moved away contacting the team about when they can get their subscription set up.

Based out of Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle, the owners are hoping to have created a brand that will put Cumbrian produce on the map.

The idea stemmed from the way that lockdown had changed people's spending habits and tapping in to the lucrative market of people from all over the world who love this county.

Owner Lisa Brown said: “In lockdown, subscription boxes have been really popular, but there’s nothing out there that really celebrates a place and Cumbria is so fantastic.

“Were making sure that people up and down the country get a chance to sample our produce, because the Lake District is really busy in the summer and people take stuff home. This way they can carry that on all year round.”

The boxes will also take on a charitable aim with a percentage of the profits from every box going towards tackling food poverty and inequality within the county.
