The team of Directors at a rugby club took part in a CPR training session.

Whitehaven Rugby League teamed up with the Fire Service to learn CPR so they would know what to do in an emergency situation.

Jason Ball, a Director at the team, told us: “We’re taking more action to support the health of our fans and players they’re our main priority.”

“It’s a good thing that our staff have knowledge and know how to take care of of everyone in the ground.”

Along with learning CPR they were also taught how to assess whether the individual was suffering from a heart attack or stroke.

As part of developing a safer environment around the ground some members of staff will also be taking a four day first aid course.

Mr. Ball added: “We have lots of elderly people visiting the ground so we will be able to save lives.”

“We urge fans to come and visit us and support the club.”
